What are You Supporting FCA Staff to Do?

Mentor, Assist, Equip Leaders

Just a simple reminder that FCA Staff's main responsibility is to assist, equip, and mentor student Leaders to mature in their walk with God, take their talents and use them to impact their campus and world for Christ, and to assist them in reaching out to their peers with the gospel message. This all happens on days that we do not have a huddle or school outreach event.
Huddle/ Outreach events are where the student leaders imapct their campus through a speaker giving their gospel message and free lunch to any student on campus that wants to come. FCA is student lead and FCA Staff is just here to empower the students to lead. We are also here to assist and support the parents. We also gather their support to provide for the kid's needs at their school. (Bibles, Pizza..ect) Together we are serving young people to and making an impact.

Valencia High School is Starting to Flow

We took on supporting a new school at Valencia High this year. In supporting the parents, the leaders, and school things are starting to settle in and we are seeing some consistent success. CSUF Mike Lorenzen was there and gave his testimony this past Monday. In this, an unknown number of students made a decision to receive the Lord. Special thank you to all the supporters and parents that have made this possible for the leaders and the school.

 

National Champ Reaching Many

Tuesday the student leaders in FCA at YLHS had National Champion Wrestler Tony Gomez come and shared his testimony. Tony won a high school national champion as a wrestler and went on to Fresno State. Tony's story was gripping, as he shared about being in the car when is cousin was shot and killed. He shared how in the midst the murder he broke his back, was bed ridden for a year, and through it all he gave his life to the Lord. Tony was also excited to share that his cousin gave his life to the Lord 2 weeks prior and Tony believes he will see him again soon. Tony gave the kids a chance to commit there life to the Lord and 16 made a decision to raise their hand to receive the Lord.

Youth Pastors Bridging the Gap

As always, part of our mission in FCA is to bridge the gap from the local churches to the school campuses. This month we had three different youth pastors speak on the local school campuses. Over all we had 6-8 youth pastors on all the campuses this month and many of them come consistently each week on many of the campuses. Rich Miller, Dave Heim, Jay Hewitt, Cory Wilson, Jason, and many others.

FCA National Staff Training

This picture above is the staff located here in the western region- CA, HI, NV.  Staff from all over the nation were at the FCA national support center this past weekend. It was encouraging to see so many serving families, kids, schools, coaches, and communities across the country through FCA.  We are so greatful to be walking with you and for you through FCA to truly make a difference.

Student Reaches Out with a Book and CSUF Athletes/Youth Pastor Speak

Tuesday one of the student leaders at Yorba Linda High school decided that Francis Chan's book changed his life so much that he wanted to reach his friends with it. He ended up using his own money and gave away free books to any classmate that wanted one. To see this happen was awesome and one of the coolest things I have seen all year! Also, CSUF Soccer player Janali West and Youth Pastor Jason spoke to the kids about what God is doing in their life and brought a solid gospel message. Special thank you to all the parents that are walking with us and the kids. Through your support a difference is truly being made. On average we impact 200 hundred kids each event/huddle at Yorba Linda High. Please pray for the kids and FCA. They need your prayers.

Former Angels Baseball- Garett Anderson Reaching Many

The students of FCA did a great job with reaching their peers with message and the influence of former Angel Garrett Anderson. Garett reached many students at Canyon high FCA Friday. Please continue to be in prayer for the students of Canyon high and the community of North OC. As we all know the peer pressure and separation from God is so prevalent with our teens these days. They need our help and prayer. Special thank you to the parents and supporters that are supporting these kids to reach their school and make a difference, as stand on their platform with purpose.

OC FCA Golf Tournment- For FCA Camp at UCLA

Each year in March we have a Orange County wide Golf tournment to raise money for students to afford to go to FCA camp at UCLA. The Monday of March 19th we will be having our 13th annual Golf tournment. We encourage you to come, invite friends, and pass the word. CSUF Shelly Cooper Spoke at YLH FCA

Tuesday was a great day of infulence as CSUF gymnast Shelly Cooper shared her expereninces with the students of Yorba Linda High FCA. Shelly shared some great stories about her walk with God and how he has moved in her life. It was another week of students impacting their peers. Special thanks to all the parents that are supporting the students. Please continue to be in prayer for them and the school kids as they go forward.

Many Reached at Esperanza High

John came with his gripping testimony to EHS Thursday. It was a great time of influence as John was able to share how God changed his life. From being addicted to drugs at 13, to a gang at 14, to many near death experiences, to his life transformation at the age of 17 when he asked God to save him and change his heart. He went on to explain how the past ten years of his life have been the most amazing ten years. Special thank you to all the parents that are assisting the students as they stand firm in their faith and reach out to their peers with the good news. Please conintue to be in prayer for the students and school.

Two FCA Student Leaders Speak Out at OLu

Wednesday was another great Huddle at OLu, as Football players Drew Williams and Maki Lui spoke to their peers in FCA. It was a great time of infulence as Drew and Maki both shared their heart to  encourage, inspire, and challenge their peers. Please continue to be in prayer for the school, sports programs, admin, and and coaches, as they need our prayers. Special thank you to all the parents that continue to support the students and school in our effort to develop champions of life that impact the world for Christ.

CSUF Mike Lorenzen Speaks at VHS

The students of VHS had a great huddle Monday as they had CSUF baseball player Mike Lorenzen speak. Mike brought many students to Christ. There were roughly 90 students there as Mike shared his testimony and walk with Christ. As always, Mike was revelent and on point with reaching the kids. Please continue to pray for the students of Valencia high. Speacial thank you to all the parents that are supporting the students and their efforts to stand firm in their purpose and impact the campus.

Night of Champions 2012

45 recieved Christ for the first time and close to 100 re-committed their life to Christ on Friday night at Night of Champions. Where over 1,200 students from all the FCA schools in Orange County came together for the night. Speakers from USC football, Pro Lacrosse, and Pro snow boarder were great influence on the night.

Former OLu Alumni Dave Heim Speaks

Dave Heim played football and basketball here at Orange Lutheran and went to play football at University of Arizona. Dave has recently taken a job as youth ministries director at Salem Lutheran. Last Wednesday, Dave came in and spoke to the kids in FCA. It was impact full for the students to hear from another former alumni that is out there impacting the world for Christ. Please continue to be in prayer for the school, sports programs, admin, and coaches, as they need our prayers that Orange Lutheran remains a place God educates and equips to impact the world for Christ.

Senior QB Mark Tumlinson Speaks Out

Thursday senior Mark Tumlinson spoke out to his peers. Mark shared about taring his ACL his junior year, how he hit rock bottom, and how his relationship with God blossomed through it all. Mark went on to share great influence and leadership toward his peers, expressing that nothing is going to satisfy you more than a relationship with God. Mark encouraged the group to surrender their life and put all their trust in God. Special thanks to all the parent support. Without you the kids would not be able to do this. Please continue to be in prayer.



OLu alumni return to speak at FCA

Former OLu students,Jacquelyn Barens and Leah Jagger came back to deliver an influential message on making their walk in a relationship with Christ. These alumni, now volleyball players at Concordia College, came to share a message with the kids about the relevance of a personal relationship with Christ. We would like to send a special thank you to all the parents that make FCA possible at OLu and for their continued support. Please continue to be in prayer for the students, school, admin, and sports programs as they all need our prayers.

*FCA Students Speak Powerfully Out to Their Peers*

Overall this huddle/event was probably the best we have seen in a long time. Braydon spoke powerfully to all his peers. He had such a humble heart and shared with all his peers students that nothing will satisfy you like a relationship with God. He talked about sex, drugs, alcohol, and did a awesome job explaining what I relationship with Christ means to him and us. It was absolutely powerful. It did so well that he left little room for Hallie to speak, but she was solid as a rock as usual. There were right at 200 students. The "parent team" and their support was right there behind them as always. The kids thank you. Please continue to be in prayer for the students and school here at Yorba Linda high. They need you!

CSUF Gymnast and Youth Pastor speak at El Dorado High

Over 175 kids came out to hear CSUF gymnast Shelly Cooper and Youth Pastor Rich Miller speak at El Dorado High School earlier this week. The kids were influenced and impacted through a shared testimony and a gospel message from the speakers. The students are doing their part to spread the word across campus and encouraging their peers to attend FCA meetings. The parents provided pizza, water and cookies for all the kids. We would like to send out a special thank you to all of the parents for their continued support through donations, assistance and taking the time to help the students make an impact on their campus.

John Sarinana Speaks at YLH FCA

First FCA event/huddle of 2012 John Sarinana spoke for the students at YLH. John shared how God took him from a gang, drugs, alcohol, addictions, and near death experience, into a life with Christ. It all happened for John when he was 17 years old. His parents sent him to a center in mexico and John came back saved. God changed his life and he now looks to share his story where ever he can. John is now a youth pastor and says the past 10 years of his life have been the best. What a great infulence for the kids.

The "parent team" was there in full support as always with pizza, cookies, water, and goods.

FCA Night of Champions- Feb 10th

On the 10th of Feb. we are expecting 1,500 students from all the FCA schools in Orange County. Many of those students have been nominated for the Character and Influence award.  Parents are welcome, invited, and we are hopeful you will join us for the evening.

• Free In and Out for all the students.
• Outside activities and food starts at 5:45 & inside program starts at 7:45-8:00
• Speakers- USC- Devon Kennard- He plays defensive end on the football team and was the number one high school recruit out of high school, a Pro Lacrosse player and a female Athlete, all who are doing big things for the Lord.

Youth Pastor Ja Hewitt Speaks at OLu, CHS, and VP

Youth pastor Ja Hewitt made his way around to three of the schools this week to share a gospel message story. The students are really doing a great job with their efforts of impacting the campus and reaching their peers. It is a great thing to see each week where students are being equipped and mentored to stand up in their platform of FCA, and to bring God and his ways to their peers. Please continue to pray for these students and that God moves through FCA.

2 FCA Students- full ride to UCLA & will be of great Infulence for annual FCA Camp

Carl Hulick (Football- Esperanza) and Cody Crampton (Track- Canyon) both are North OC FCA students and both have received scholarships to play and perform for the UCLA Bruins.
Please be in prayer for these kids that they continue to remain tight with Jesus and impact their campus and world for Christ. It will be a great to have these two with their influence and FCA experience for our annual FCA Camp.


FCA Camp:

If your student has not been to the FCA UCLA summer camp, make this year the year. The reason I make the notice now, is that the spots will fill up fast. Each year the spots are filling up faster and faster. We make no profit off this and every year we raise money to get your child in. The dates are June 30th - July 3rd.  This is a must event for your child. Extreme impact comes from this camp, as each group of students will have a Christian college athlete as their mentor for the week, as they live and practice on campus as a UCLA athlete. Each night there is a chapel concert, where roughly 800 girls and boy will be worshiping and learning about God. Please email me at bstanfield@fca.org if you want to your child to attend this camp. Money for the camp is negotiable for each student. As I said earlier, we raise money for the event, as well as money to get kids into the camp.

FCA Student Skylee Sheard

If you have seen me out, there is a good chance you have seen me with Skylee, especially on Sunday mornings at church. Skylee is an amazing kid that plays football, runs track, and has been a leader in FCA for two-three years now. Skylee was saved through FCA and is soon to be baptized. He tells me that he wants to be the one that breaks his generational curse as he withstands from drugs, alcohol and un-Godly behaviors, but just like all our teens on these campuses there are influences that are trying to pull him away from God's ways and into the worlds ways. Skylee's father is in prison, his two brothers are in jail awaiting trail, and he lives with his younger brother and mother whom has not had a job in 5 years. Skylee is like a son with me. I support his needs, and I am helping him get into College to earn a degree and play some college food ball along the way. Skylee has a 3.45 overall GPA, but will have to attend junior college because of being in remedial English. The great thing about that is that where we are sending him (Saddleback CC) FCA is strong and present by their head football coach. As we move closer to Skylee graduating and moving on to college there will be many needs this kid will have. The reason I write this, is to ask you to be in prayer with me for him, his needs, and his walk with Christ, as we try to help him impact the world for Christ.

Night of Worship at the Center Quad of Canyon High School

Friday night the Canyon leaders blew us away with their ability to put on a Night of Worship for all their peers within North Orange County. There were students invited from schools all over and it turned out to be a hit. It turned out to be a two and half hour event with a live band, where one high school student, a Cal State Fullerton baseball player, and a youth pastor were able to give their testimony throughout the night. Great Job kids and thank you to all the people that supported the kids to make this happen.

Esperanza High- First Outreach/Huddle of 2012

The first outreach of the year for EHS was lead by senior leaders Heather Phral and Mitch Christensen. It was great as both shared about their testimony within the past year or two, as well as, presented a bible message to their peers. It was a great time for influence and growth to the FCA students here at Esperanza high. Special thank you to all the parents that are supporting these students and FCA.

The Start of 2012- Assisting, Mentoring, Equipping the Leaders

Throughout all the schools here in North Orange county the first week back we spent our focus and time  supporting and building up the leaders. Egypt Mckee came into our leadership teams and introduced  "The Clean Water Project" and talked with the leaders about what it means to be a leader and about their walk with Christ. Leadership mostly comes by nature within the students, but it also comes when you present an opportunity to the student where they can become a leader.
The leaders are all ramped up and ready to go for the new year.
